who we are, what drives us and why

Our approach

At the Centre for Behaviour Support, our goal is to provide services that are strengths-based and family-focused. Driven by our core values, we provide services and spaces that are high quality, co-designed, safe and accessible. We firmly believe in raising the quality standards of Positive Behaviour Support and therapeutic services in our local community and beyond. Our approach will always be one of warmth, respect and collaboration.

Our values

Everything we do is done with Passion

We are always developing and deepening our Knowledge

Everything we do is done alongside others, in Collaboration

All of our decisions are based upon maintaining and improving Quality

Our commitment

We are committed to raising the standard of Positive Behaviour Support and therapeutic services, through highly skilled and qualified team members and a comprehensive clinical framework. Our focus is on providing exceptional, evidence-based support that truly makes a difference, ensuring quality in every aspect of what we do and we will not compromise on that.

We believe it is an enormous privilege to be invited into someone’s life and that of their family and/or supports, and our approach will always reflect that. We work with you to provide services that are collaborative and developed through shared decision making. This extends more broadly to working in partnership with other organisations and agencies, so that we can codesign services and programs.

We will always provide services that are safe and recognise the profound impact of trauma, particularly for those who have a disability. Our services are always safe; we create an environment of trust and respect, and provide therapeutic services that are specific to the individual and focus on positive outcomes, overall wellbeing, and the promotion of autonomy.

our team

Josh

Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner

Josh is one half of the Centre for Behaviour Support, as one of our co-directors and Advanced Practitioners, bringing with him over 16 years of disability experience. He is passionate about working with individuals who may not have had access to services (due to complexity or location), and complex adolescents and adults facing numerous challenges such as psychosocial disability, homelessness, AOD use and forensic involvement. He is undertaking a Bachelor's of Psychology, due to be completed in 2025, and has been a certified CPI safety intervention trainer for over 10 years.

Josh has worked in senior management level positions overseeing large disability programs and operations, as well as playing an integral part in the growth and development of positive behaviour support and counselling programs. He has been actively involved in developing opportunities for practitioners in the local community, and has experience providing clinical supervision. He has experience working in numerous positions within the NDIS and Out of Home Care space.

Josh's approach could be described as straightforward and action-orientated. He has a practical, down-to-earth demeanor that makes him approachable, welcoming and easy to engage with.

Outside of work you'll probably find him at crossfit or spending time with his family.

Sharnee

Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner

Social Worker

Sharnee is the other half of the Centre for Behaviour Support as a co-director and Advanced Practitioner. She has a passion for supporting young people and families facing complex challenges, particularly relating to developmental and complex trauma, disability and how they intersect. She has a Bachelor's of Social Work and holds AASW membership. She has experience working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, within the NDIS, schools and Out of Home Care.

Sharnee has worked as a Senior Practitioner, providing clinical guidance, oversight and developing best practice frameworks for a team of practitioners. She has experience delivering group and individual clinical supervision to ensure high-quality practice and providing training to new practitioners. She has also spent time working as a Support Coordinator and within the disability employment sector, providing well-rounded disability sector knowledge.

Sharnee's approach is very much one of warmth, collaboration and compassion. She loves working alongside families and supports to co-design tools and strategies that benefit both the young person and the family as a whole, and creating therapeutic spaces that are fun and engaging for young people.

Outside of work, you'll find Sharnee spending time with her family and friends, walking her dog or at the gym.
